And the sax like Albert Ayler!…who did he play with in Glasgow? Noble, Edwards and Moore were very restrained in the best way…sat back when they needed to and turned it on in the spaces…
Ayler – yes definitely! The set I saw (part of Counterflows festival) was with a laptop improv guy Owen Green who did fine but was really pretty superfluous to Carter. I’m ashamed to say I hadn’t knowingly come across Carter before. Really inspiring.
Excellent. Also saw him at the weekend in Glasgow. Had no idea he also played the piano like Cecil Taylor.

Should have said “I hadn’t knowingly come across Carter before as a piano player”. The set I saw he alternated between sax and piano.
As he did at Oto…with a few howls into the microphone too.
